YouTube is a video sharing site that was started in 2005 by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim that currently has over a billion users. Youtube has an extremely diverse array of creative production to choose from. Here are some channels from the site that you might not have heard about.

Threadbanger is a channel that run by Rob Czar and Corinne Leigh where they post different how to videos on different do-it-yourself projects, and test the credibility of life hacks and do-it-yourself projects that are on the internet. Through their show Hack Job the hosts test the how reliable and useful different life hacks are while in their series Man Vs. Pin each tests how to do different do-it-yourself projects that have been posted on YouTube and Pinterest to determine if they work, and possible to do. Besides the series, the creators also post their own projects that are ranked according to skill level. The channel has had 2,265,021 subscribers, and over 400,000,000 views on their 730 videos as of the 18th of March.  

Cyriak is a channel containing a series of peculiar animations which have been set to the creator’s own musical compositions. In the animations, the creator, Cyriak Harris, often warps different pictures into new shapes to create either a story, or a group of cycles that match the tone of the electronic music he places in the background. The creator has also created adverts and music videos for Coca Cola, Adult Swim, Grand Popo, Football Club, Flying Lotus, Bonobo and Block Party which he sometimes posts on the channel. Currently, there are 150,000,000 views on his 61 videos and he has 689,348 subscribers.

David Firth is an odd YouTube channel that contains animated creations and stop-motion films about different often bizarre and disturbing worlds. The videos on the channel often uses surreal horror and black comedy in his animations to create a satire on the modern world. The creator had multiple series that have aired on the British Broadcasting Network in the United Kingdom, is the owner of the website fatpie.com, and has created a music video for the band Flying Lotus. As of this march the channel has had over 140,000,000 views on his 100 videos on the channel, and 633,804 subscribers.

Eddsworld is a comedy animation channel, created by Edd Gould that is now being run by his friends in his honor following his passing in 2012. The channel consists of short animated stories starring his friends and him in different fictional situations as they fight against various otherworldly enemies, or perform impossible acts. In addition to the YouTube channel, there are also Eddsworld comics that were produced by Edd Gould prior to his death. The channel currently has over 160,000,000 views, 77 videos, and 980,996 subscribes.

Danisnotonfire is vlogging channel created by a British vlogger, Dan Howell. The videos on the channel consist of him talking about his life in Britain, and pop culture through different overly exaggerated skits. Often throughout the year, he will also have collaborative challenge videos with his roommate Phil Lester, Amazingphil, and videos including other major posters on the site like Tyler Oakley and Sprinkleofglitter. The channel currently has 5,643,023 subscribers with about 500,000,000 views, and as of 2015, Dan Howell has also started a gaming channel with Phil Lester names Danandphilgames.

Game Theory  is a channel run by Matt Pat where he along with other gaming YouTubers like Gaijin Goombah, Trailer Drake, and Ronnie Edwards, talk about the different cultural references, strategies, and science behind different games and their characters. The channel consists of a group of different series that run simultaneously by the different YouTubers which all have their own art style, based around the aspect gaming they are most interested in. Many of the creators on the channel also have their own YouTube accounts where they post more content of a similar or identical nature to what they post on the Game Theorists channel for fans of their series. As of 2016, the channel has been hosting nightly live streams for it’s about 6,000,000 subscribers, and has had over 730,000,000 views on the 309 videos the creators have posted to the channel.

TheMysteriousMrEnter is a YouTube channel created by Jonathan Rozanski where he reviews different pieces of animation. Through his series Animated Atrocities, he review pieces of animation that he either feels are insulting, have a bad moral, or just don’t hold up to the standards of good storytelling, while in his series Admirable Animations, he praises well put together animated movies and episodes of television shows. He currently has 177,759 subscribers with around 560,000,000 views on his 325 videos which he adds to on a weekly basis.

Tasted is a food based YouTube channel that contains recipes, food reviews, and explanations on the background of foreign foods that are still being eaten today. Through their series ‘Why Would You Eat That?’ The crew explains the origins of different food item that are odd, rare, or not commonly eaten in western societies, and why they are still being eaten today. In their series Food Feeder, they review different new or strange foods that are being added to the market, along with food based news. The channel currently has around 57,000,000 views on their 1,290 videos and 396,637 subscribers.

 League of Super Critics is a collaborative channel starring the Nostalgia Critic, Nostalgia Chick, Cinema Snob, and Todd in The Shadows. The channel consists of a group of online reveiws where one or multiple of the creators post their thoughts on different movies, television shows, video games, and music videos. The channel currently has 866 videos with around 160,000,000 veiws and 652,143 subscribers

Tats TopVideos is collaborative channel including 25 creators that creates top lists on various topics together. In the videos, the creators use three-dimensional, narration, and clips from either off the internet, or ones that have been submitted by the creators. Their videos can span from fifteen minutes to a hour and a half in length depending on the topic and the amount of things on the list. The channel currently has 68 videos, about 500,000 subscribers, and 40,000,000 videos

YouTube has been a major form of entertainment since its creation and has continued to evolve throughout its lifespan. There are over a billion YouTube channels on the site, and hopefully this list will make finding one that works for you a bit easier.
