7 Steps to a 2400

Are you stressing over the SATs? Many BAHS juniors have enrolled to take the SAT on March 14th at Bel Air High School. Many students have not taken the time to open their SAT book, and get down to studying. If you need some extra tips that could help you nail the SAT, you have come to the right place.

  1. If you are not taking SAT prep, you can always ask the advice of students who have already taken it, as well as the teachers that are in charge of the classes. With the advice of those around you at Bel Air High School, you are sure to be more in shape and know what to expect when the exam comes.
  2. Buy a SAT book. There are many books made to help students prepare for the Scholastic Aptitude Test. Studying for as little as an hour a day can really help you increase your score, and improve your skills. SAT books can be found everywhere, such as Barnes and Nobles, Target, or even a friend who has previously taken it.
  3. Make flashcards for your English words and math formulas. The book “Tooth and Nails” by Charles H. Elster and Joseph Elliot covers 800 words that have appeared on the SAT before, and are expected to be seen again. This book highlights these words in the text, and includes a glossary defining the words. “The Official SAT Study Guide” has math problems and formulas used for students to practice.
  4. Get the app! There is an app called “SAT QOTD” that you can download on to your smartphone that provides a sample question each day for you to answer. This multiple choice question tells you whether you are right or wrong, and gives you a thorough explanation of the correct answer.
  5. Find a tutor. You can never go wrong with the help of an experienced person who is willing to go out of their way and to give up time to help you succeed. You can research nearby tutors online, or ask around and see if anyone knows someone who was of great help to them.
  6. Online tests! Teens are always on the internet, so what better way to study? Sites such as www.sat.collegeboard.org provide practice questions for both the math and English section of the SAT.
  7. Be fully prepared on the day of the test. Get the recommended 8 hours of sleep the night before; having a good amount sleep helps you perform the best the next day. Eat a healthy, well-balanced breakfast in the morning, and don’t stress yourself out. It is proven that people do better when they go into a situation with a positive attitude, rather than a negative one.

With the help of these 7 tips, you are guaranteed to do better than you would have without them. Using this list, you will become fully prepared, and ready for the Scholastic Aptitude Test. Don’t stress and good luck to those taking it this year!
