Bel Air High School Introduces Mr. Young and Mrs. Fager

The new year is off to a great start, thanks to the new staff adjusting and contributing well to the BAHS community. Here is some more information of the new Bobcats.

Mr. Young is our new band director, and he is looking forward to teaching here in Harford County. He has been teaching for 6 years, having previously taught in Prince George’s County and Mississippi. He loves creating and sharing music, and participating in programs outside of school. With conducting the Vienna Community Band in Vienna, Virginia, playing D.C. Swing and Blue Crab Jazz, it is no question how qualified and passionate about music Mr. Young is.

In addition to the previous musical endeavors, Mr. Young has also travelled to Rome in college and conducted The Italian Army Band of Rome (D’ell Esercito di Roma). He share his love of music with his wife, who also directs band and orchestra.

Considering his students, he quotes Wayne Dyer as a guide for his class: “Be open to everything and attached to nothing.”

Mrs. Fager is now Bel Air High School’s Mentor Teacher, here to assist the new teachers and those who just moved to Harford County, like the teachers previously mentioned. This is her 11th year in the school system, working as a long term sub at Deerfield Elementary, a third grade and fifth grade teacher at Edgewood Elementary, and a seventh grade teacher at Bel Air Middle School. She remembers her mentor when she started teaching, and loves be able to do the same for others.

After school hours, Mrs. Fager instructs yoga and other fitness activities. She especially enjoys running, having ran in multiple half marathons, 5Ks, and running one full marathons.
The advice she gives to this year’s Bobcats is “Always do your best. If you do your best than you’ll be proud of what you’ve accomplished.”
