10 Ways to Not Be Bored on a Day Off

The 6 a.m. alarm clock rings. Is there school? Can I sleep? These are the questions running through the mind of an average high school student who sleeps less than the recommended 8 hours a night, 5 days a week. But what does one do when freedom on a weekday is given? Well, I’m here to tell you. Listed below are the ten most awesome things one could possibly do during a snow day stuck inside with your family. Take my advice, and you’ll never have another 49 episode long Looney Toons marathon with your mother. Yes, that did happen to me.

  1. It may be considered basic, but nothing beats a nice hot chocolate or coffee from Starbucks. Although, now that I think about it, the roads probably wouldn’t be safe to drive on, so homemade will have to do. Maybe throw in some marshmallows, whip cream; you get the gist.
  2. This one should just be common sense. Hit up some RomComs with your friends such as “Love Actually” or “That Awkward Moment”. “The Princess Diaries” saga is also a great option, especially the second. Raven Symone and Julie Andrews’ duet at Mia’s birthday party was to die for.
  3. This ones to help out the parents; shovel.
  4. Shovel more, I’m sure you missed a spot. Keep in mind this shoveling could make you some cash. I’m sure your neighbors are not feeling up to it; shovel their driveways and get some money. Then you can use the money made to buy yourself a snow blower so you never have to touch a shovel again.
  5. Sledding is bomb and should always be included as long as the snow provides fluffy landings. Forest Lakes Elementary School’s hills are on point.
  6. Wake and bake! Bake some warm cookies for your loving family, or get up early and cook some breakfast. Guaranteed no chores all day.
  7. No one will judge you for your blankie, I promise.
  8. Do some homework…if you’re that kind of person. No one is judging you…
  9. One word: Netflix.
  10. Do some crafts and bring out your creative side. There are so many options; painting, drawing, etc. Art is known to soothe emotions, especially ones about having to go to school the next day.

With this sweet list of activities, you will never be bored again. Use your days to the fullest, and appreciate the snow days while we still have them. Spring is coming up, and soon were going to be wishing we still had a chance for those random days off. We hope you have some happy snow days Bobcats!
