Bobcat Wrestling Slams Cougars

On Friday, February 3, our Bobcats brought home another win against the Fallston Cougars at a score of 66-12, putting our record at 11-0-4.

As 5:22 pm approached, the gym lights dimmed and the traditional theme song of ACDC’s “Thunderstruck” began to play for our Bobcat 2016-17 wrestlers to come in and stir up the crowd.

Senior captain Scott Miser started off the meet with a win against Fallston’s Christian Wilson, putting Wilson smack down on his back along with other tricks up his leotard. Miser scored 15 individual points, making the score 6-0 for the first meet of the night.

“We focused on ourselves and prepared. They’re usually one of our biggest rivals but the matches we had were great,” said Coach Reddish.

Coach Reddish and Sophomore Brent Lorin informed me that Fallston were missing a key player due to injury and were not having their best season, which explains the many forfeits the team made.

Earlier that day before the match began, sophomore Ethan Vogel, was asked how he thought the night would go and he replied, “I feel good, I feel we have a good chance of winning.”

“I think Fallston is a good team and has a good coach, but right now we’re looking at a weaker Fallston. Overall, it should be a good match,” said sophomore Brent Lorin.

Because Fallston were not at their best last meet, we do hope all becomes well soon and we will be looking forward to another slam on the mat against our favorite rival.

When asked about the for sure participation the Bobcats will have in the UCBA tournament, Brent Lorin said, “I don’t expect much. It’ll be a fun rematch against Rising Sun’s Jon Price [who is ranked 2nd highest in the 2016-17 wrestling competition] and it’ll be a good warm up for the regional and states.”

Wednesday, February 10’s tournament will be to qualify the top four teams to the state tournament on Saturday February 11. We will be going up against Glenelg Country School We have won the UCBAC tournament 3 times in the past 3 years and we are gunning for fourth, so our Bobcats are going to bring it home. Go Bobcats!
