Boys’ Basketball Preview

The Bel Air Boys’ Varsity Basketball Team is set to get their regular season schedule underway on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at home against the Aberdeen Eagles.

The boys are coming off a tough 3-15 record in the 2015-16 season and hope to bounce back strong in Head Coach Alex Darko’s second year on the job.

Key returning players include Michael Yetter, Finn Gottschalk, and Jon Scott. All current seniors who made an impact on the team in the previous season.

“I’m excited to get the season started and show the county that we are a different team this year.” Yetter states. “With the help of a few key new players and the strong leadership we have from last year I really think we can be a threat every night.”

The Bobcats also have a few newcomers who look to make an impact right from the start including seniors Jamario Sampson and Daniel Webber, and junior Cameron Kalandros.

“I’m excited to finally be able to get back out there,” says Webber, who was unable play his junior season due to an injury. “I’m excited to make an impact and get the year started off to a good start. If we put in the work and don’t take days off I believe we will be a very good team.”

The ‘Cats are moving to the Susquehanna Division this year, but will still have a chance to play teams in the Chesapeake Conference at least once in the regular season. Captains for the team have not yet been selected.

Be sure to come out and support your Bobcats during their first home game at 6:45 p.m. in the gymnasium. We look forward to the season and wish the best for our boys. Go Bobcats!
