The Bel Air High School Cheerleaders are back—and this time with their eyes on the prize.

Varsity has their sight set on County Champions after falling into 4th place at last year’s fall Counties and JV is full of new freshman that add a lot to the team. Together, both teams are striving to get 1st place at multiple competitions this season with their talented athletes and difficult routines.

“Our goals for the cheerleading fall season are to have a healthy season, and make it to the State Championships,” said Varsity Coach Karen Sobka. “The cheer team is working very hard to be able to put out a great performance for the audience.”

Coach Sobka is not kidding about working hard, either. The practices are more rigorous than ever this year with running outside and inside and constant exercising. But it’s not just in vain—the routines are a lot more difficult and both JV and Varsity will look like brand new teams. The routines include new stunts with innovative dismounts, tumbling that will make the crowd go wild, and energetic choreography that will give you goosebumps.

Speaking of new, both teams will be debuting new uniforms for this season. Varsity is following the trend of uniforms with spandex material and rhinestones and including our accent color on the sleeves and skirt. JV gets to wear varsity’s old uniforms, making them look sharper than any other JV team in the county.

“For the upcoming season, we chose to get new uniforms because they needed an update in style,” said Miss. Joffee.

Be sure to come out and support the cheerleaders at their competitions this season on Oct. 7 at Joppatowne, Oct. 18 at Bel Air, and Oct. 29 at HCC APGFCU Arena.
