This week in pop culture news, filmmaker Judd Apatow defended the new Ghostbusters reboot set to release this summer. Though not his movie, Apatow has certainly produced some highly praised comedies.

Apatow says, “I would assume there’s a very large crossover of people who are doubtful Ghostbusters will be great and people excited about the Donald Trump candidacy. I would assume they are the exact same people. That movie is made by the great Paul Feig and stars the funniest people on Earth, so I couldn’t be more excited. I think people have paid too much attention to just some angry trolls. And it will be judged on its own greatness.”

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how well this movie does at the box office and possibly compare it with election ratings.

In more entertainment news, the Henson Co, known for the Muppet characters, seems to be trying to redeem itself after the flop of its most recent Muppet Show that came out earlier this year. The company has teamed up with Netflix to produce a variety type television show for preschoolers, called “Julie’s Greenroom”. Julie Andrews will play the leader of a performing arts company. Special guest stars such as Alec Baldwin, Sara Bareilles, Joshua Bell, Tituss Burgess, Carol Burnett, Chris Colfer, Robert Fairchild, Josh Groban, David Hyde Pierce, Bill Irwin, Ellie Kemper and Idina Menzel are said to make appearances. The show will also feature new puppet characters. The first season will debut next year with 13, half-hour episodes.
