The Final Viral

I started this weekly column last year with writer Emily League and Editor-in-Chief Sydney Schoff as we were brainstorming for something to do that would keep our talents flowing between A&E stories. The name was probably the most difficult part; earlier ideas included ‘What’s Hot’ or ‘Something with Viral in the Title’. #Viral came to be when I went onto Twitter and told the two “I’m going to search under the hashtag Viral and see what comes up. Wait a second… #Viral! That’s perfect!” I soon created the logo and Sydney and Emily worked on getting information for our very first story. The format was easy and similar to the one I’ve used all year. This year, I took on the column for myself and it’s been a lot of fun. The internet is a weird and crazy place. Movies have made millions and songs have stayed at the top for several weeks straight and I’ve reported them all. I’ve talked about award shows (so many award shows), people famous on the internet and funny videos. Nothing really happened this week ironically but I’d just like to say thank you if you’ve read any #Viral I’ve posted, especially this one because that means you’re reading this now. It’s been great. #PeaceOut
