-Superbowl: The Superbowl this year against the New England Patriots and the reigning champions the Seattle Seahawks was played this past Sunday in which the outcome shocked millions—Lynch was standing right there! Why would you pass on the goal line?! Sorry, that’s the football fan in me coming out. It was such a close game and it’s frustrating to watch the team you were “rooting for” ultimately lose when they were very literally on the goal post (I put quotations around rooting for because if I would have had the choice, the Ravens would have come out of nowhere and win). And then, backing tracking a little bit, there was the infamous “Left Shark” halftime show featuring Katy Perry. Perry performed favorites such as “Roar” and “Teenage Dream” with probably the best background dancers in any Superbowl ever. Missy Elliot and Lenny Kravitz also made incredible cameos, making the show surprisingly good! The night ended with Tom Brady being named the MVP and the Patriots going to Disney World.
Superbowl Commercials: No surprise here that the Budweiser commercial basically won the Superbowl commercials with the puppy being saved by the Clydesdale horses! But the trend this year was upsetting— Nationwide and the kid who was dead the whole time? The dad who was a racecar driver and never home to see his son? All of the commercials, though some are depressing, featured some pretty funny cameos like Lindsay Lohan in the Esurance commercials and Steve Buscemi in the Snickers commercials. So, what’s your favorite part of the Superbowl? The game or better yet, the commercials?
-Harper Lee: To Kill a Mockingbird is about to have a sequel! It was announced this week that Lee will be publishing a brand new novel, featuring Scout when she is an adult. Fans of the original book are both excited and nervous. Excited because all of our beloved characters (mainly Atticus, to be honest) will be revisited and we’ll be able to see what they’ve been up to. But nervous because who knows what the novel will be like? The book is scheduled to come out later this year.
