On Thursday, January 24, 2019, the Bel Air Girls’ JV and Varsity basketball teams played against Fallston High School in another UCBAC game. JV fell to the Cougars with a close score of 27-26. Varsity came up with another win with a score of 37-30.

To keep their near perfect record of 11-1, the JV team knew they’d have to play a well-rounded game to beat Fallston. With leaders like freshman Sophia Simon with 14 points, the JV cats put up a hard-fought battle against the Cougars. In the end, the JV team fell just short, losing by just one point and making this only their second loss of the entire season.

“Looking at a score where we lose by just one point is hard. This score shows us how important each shot is and how every point matters. We have plenty to work on, but I think we’re in good shape for future games,” says freshman Sophia Simon

During the Varsity game, the girls stayed on top of their offense to dominate the Cougars. With leaders including senior Bailey Springer with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks, and senior Grace Wehland with 7 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 deflections. The Bobcats came out with another win, making their record 10-3.

Other leaders for the varsity team include senior Autumn Dougherty with 4 points and 6 deflections, junior Maggi hall with 8 points, 4 blocks, 3 steals and 6 deflections, and junior jay Harden with 5 points, 2 steals and 0 turnovers.

“Even though we came on top with this win, I feel like we could perform better and more consistently. We know what we need to work on, and we need to capitalize on them to prepare for our future games,” says senior Bailey Springer.
