Bel Air Swimming Back to Back Games

The Bel Air Bobcats’ Swimming Team played two back to back games on Monday, Dec. 5, against Aberdeen and Fallston, and Wednesday, Dec. 7, against C. Milton Wright.

The Bobcats played at Edgewood Middle School and came out on top for the Aberdeen/Fallston meet with a final combined score of 153, compared to Aberdeen’s score of 127 and Fallston’s 122. The girls cheered on the boys, who scored a 77, and the girls, themselves, scored a 76.

The top scorers of this meet for the boys were Matt Siebold, Drew Gagnon, Xavier Kane, Matt Weaver, and Rob Powell. The top scorers for the girls were Maddie Clark, Eliza Cohen, Mady Dougherty, Sydney Mika, Ellie Harris, and Victoria Kolosey.

“Everyone did their part to make the team highly successful.” Says Swimming Coach Mrs. McDonough. “There was a lot of team spirit and unity amongst the swimmers that helped propel us out in front of our tough competition.”

The swimming Bobcats then traveled to Magnolia Middle School where they just fell short against C. Milton Wright with a final score of 165 to 175. The girls carried the team with an amazing score of 91 while the boys only scored a 74.

The top scorers for the girls were Maddie Clark, Eliza Cohen, Mady Dougherty, Sydney Mika, Ellie Harris, Victoria Kolosey, Erin Kenney, and Maria Collins. The top scorers for the boys were Matt Siebold, Drew Gagnon, Xavier Kane, Matt Weaver, and Rob Powell.

“The BAHS Boys’ Swim Team was not as lucky to end up on the side of a win, but they worked so hard and we are so impressed with their determination and ‘never give up’ attitude.” McDonough states. “The boys swam their hardest from start to finish. This was anyone’s meet and we were just a few points behind.”

The next meet will take place on Monday, Dec. 12, where the team will face off against North Harford and Joppatowne at 5:45 p.m. at Joppa Magnolia Middle School.
