Bel Air Football Remains Undefeated

On Friday, Sept. 30, the Bel Air Bobcats defeated the Friendly Patriots 27-18 to remain undefeated, moving past the halfway point into the regular season.

The game kicked off to a very fast start with a Bel Air touchdown on a power play to the right side of the line on the seventh play from scrimmage. A quick forced fumble by the Bobcat’s defense gave the ball right back to the offense in Friendly territory.

Senior running back, Zach Powell, capitalized on the turnover, taking the ball in for another quick score for the Bobcats on a thirty-one-yard-run play, putting the Bobcats up 14-0 in the first minute and 46 seconds into the game.

“We talked all week about coming out and shifting the momentum in our favor early on.” Says Powell. “The two quick scores we put up were exactly what we needed to be successful.”

The Patriots came back strong in the second half, scoring on their first two offensive drives. But the Bobcat’s defense produced a few more turnovers and held strong to keep Friendly off the scoreboard up until the final minutes of the game.

“We came out a little slow to start the second half, but we turned things around and got the job done when we really needed to. It felt great to come out on top.” Says junior team member Devin Anderson.

The Bobcats are home again this Saturday night, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m. against conference rival C. Milton Wright. The game is part of a week-long series of events to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Bel Air High School, so be sure to buy your blue wristband and come out and support your Bobcats as they look to remain undefeated!
