Bel Air Bobcats Take On And Take Out Fallston Cougars

On Friday, Sept. 23, the Bel Air Bobcats Varsity Football Team defeated cross-town rival, Fallston High School, with a score of 41-20, remaining undefeated and picking up their first win in conference play.

The game got off to a slow start for the Bobcats, but a forced fumble, and a key defensive stop in Bel Air territory, kept the Cougars’ offense off of the scoreboard and on the sideline.

Bel Air’s Daniel Webber put the first points on the board, on a two-yard QB sneak, to cap off an eighty-five-yard drive. The extra point attempt by Alex Clifford was good, and the Bobcats held on to their lead for the rest of the game.

“It was a great drive to get the momentum swinging in our favor.” Says Alex Muneses, senior lineman for the Bobcats. “We stayed patient and took the ball eighty-five yards to capitalize on a turnover.”

The Bobcat’s defense held the Cougars to only six points through three quarters, forcing a few turnovers, and setting the offense up for success by giving them the ball with great field position.

“It had been our goal all week to come out and get a few takeaways on the defensive side of the ball, so it felt great to see results when it really mattered.” Says senior linebacker, Sam Queen.

The Bobcats return home next week to host the Friendly Patriots, a team they only defeated by three points in the 2015 season. The game will kick off at 7:00 p.m. on Sept. 30. Come out and support your team. Go Bobcats!
