On Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, Bel Air High School hosted the annual Varsity Girls’ Soccer Bobcat Cup.

The Lady Cats started off strong with a 2-0 win against Huntingtown at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning. The two goals were scored by Autumn Dougherty and Lexi Kraemer.

“Scoring the goal was awesome,” explains Autumn Dougherty, sophomore forward for the Lady Cats, “but I couldn’t have done it without my team.”

At 4:00 p.m., later that afternoon, the Lady Cats faced Century High School in the championship match. Century scored the first goal during the first half, but the Bobcats came back fighting and tied up the game.

The scored remained 1-1 until the time ran out; both teams then proceeded into PK’s. Bel Air fell short, missing one of their shots and losing 5-4.

“We played our hardest for the whole 80 minutes,” says Lexi Kraemer, junior forward for the team, “and I think we did our best in both of the games.”

The Bobcats’ first home game will be Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 6:45 p.m. against North Harford High School.
