Bobcats Football Defeats Falcons

Daniel Webber

On Saturday, Sep. 10, the Bel Air Bobcats traveled to Central High School and defeated the Falcons with a score of 35-7. The Bobcats scored first, and held their lead for the entirety of the game.
A long offensive drive, capped off by a 12 yard run by Senior Keegan McHugh, gave the Bobcats the quick start they needed to set up their success for the rest of the game.
This was followed by a few costly Falcon penalties and great defense by the Bobcats that lead to a punt on fourth down. The Bobcats offense drove down the field once again, scoring yet another rushing touchdown thanks to McHugh.
“We talked all week about getting on the board early in the game and that’s exactly what we did.” McHugh says. “The lineman opened up the holes which made my job easy. It was a great start to the game.”
The Bobcats’ defense also played a crucial role in keeping the momentum in their favor by holding the Falcons to less than 100 yards rushing throughout the game. Key plays from senior linebacker, Sam Queen, kept the Falcons’ offense off of the field and Central High School off of the scoreboard.
“We executed what we had been practicing all week, but there is always room for improvement.” Says Queen. “This was a great step in the right direction and I am proud of this team.”
The Bobcats’ next opponent is the Overlea Falcons. The game will be played at home on Saturday, Sep. 17 at 10:00 a.m. Come out and support the Bobcats as they look to add another win to this season’s record!
