Bobcat Cheerleaders’ Preview

Deajah Dodd

Last year’s Bobcat Cheerleaders went all the way to the championships. With the same hard work and dedication, the girls plan to go on to the semi-final and finals this year as well.

Returning this year is Mrs. Benfield, along with the Bobcats’ Cheerleading captain, who has been on the team for 8 seasons at Bel Air, Sydney Gillis. With the help of last year’s champions and all of the newcomers this year, the Bel Air Bobcat Cheerleaders plan to dominate once again.

Head coach, Mrs. Benfield, says that there are no star players on the team because each of the girls are great at what they do in the different categories that keep the team in sync and championship worthy.

“We are the defending champions […] We’d like to continue to win that [championships] and go on to finals and semi-finals as well,” says Mrs. Benfield.

They’ve prepare a lot over the summer, looking at different routines from competitors all around the world. With the help of the new girls, Mrs. Benfield is positive the team is prepared and dedicated to help bring home the championship win this year.

“We have a lot of fun at football games,” explains Benfield, “And really come up with how we want to use our talent best on the mat.”

There will be two competitions before our cheerleaders go on to the finals which will be at Edgewood on October 10th at 5:30 p.m. Here at home, on October 18th at 5:30 p.m. and the other being held at UCBAC on October 26th at 6:00 p.m. So come out and support our Bobcat Cheerleaders for another victory.
