Bobcats Defeat the Indians in Field Hockey

On Tuesday, Sept. 23, the Field Hockey team hosted the game against the visiting North East team as they defeat the Indians with a score of 7-1.

The Bobcat defense held the Indians scoreless in the first half, while the ‘Cats had six different goal scorer. Seniors Lauren Fisher, Carolyn Todd, and Sam Keesey, Juniors Emma Chmielewski and Mimi Salters, and Sophomore Anna Farley all tallied a single goal in the first half to help build the 6-0 lead. Senior Goalkeeper Morgan Domanico tallied 3 saves in the first half, while Seniors Hailey Meyer and Olivia Street led the Bobcat defense in the back field by coming up with huge stops to help push the

During the second half, both teams would not give up and kept pushing the ball up the field. The Bobcats would score their last goal when Senior Katie Bowling was right there by the goal to tap the ball right by the goalie to make the score 7-0. The Indians then scored by squeezing one by Junior Goalkeeper Kelbey Egerland. The score would remain 7-1 for the rest of the game that consisted of back and forth action between both teams.

“We played really well as a team and I think since we got to work on something we practiced it helped us get more prepared for Patterson Mill on Friday,” said Sophomore Anna Farley.

Second half keeper, Egerland, matched Domanico’s 3 saves in the cage for the Bobcats. The ‘Cats defensive unit worked together to help clear the ball up the field and only held the Indians to one goal during the entirety of the game. Senior Lindsay Harrison and Juniors Lauren Lockard and Selena Garcia worked well together in the back to come up big with huge stops to defeat the fast break and momentum that the Indians showed.

The Bobcats move to 6-1 on the season and will travel to Patterson Mill on Friday Sept. 26, to take on the Huskies at 3:30 p.m.
