Girls’ Lacrosse Breezes Through Second Round of Playoffs

On Fri., May 9, 2014, the Girls’ Lacrosse Team travelled to Parkville High School to take on the Parkville Knights in the second round of playoffs.

The Bobcats scored fourteen goals in the contest and did not allow the Knights score a single goal during the game. Four players added one goal to the score while three others tallied multiple goals to make the score 11-0 at the half. Freshman Anna Farley (2) and Gabi Hall (3) combined for five goals while Sophomores Anna Wehland (2) and Emily McQuay added a total of three goals to the score. Juniors Sam Keesey and Katy Higinbothom each netted a goal and Senior Captain Tori Gryglewski added one. At the end of the half, the Bobcats lead the Knights 11-0.

Starting the second half, the Bobcats worked on their set plays on the offensive end and perfected defensive plays as well. The Bobcats only scored three goals in the second half, each coming from a different scorer. McQuay and Keesey netted their second goals of the game and Junior Morgan Holenback scored to secure the final score of 14-0 over the Knights. The Bobcat defense had a very impressive stand against the Knights, not allowing any goals. Senior Captain Lucy Loughlin had any shots no shots taken on her in the first half and Senior Jamie Bittner earned a solid three saves to keep the Knights scoreless.

“I think we played smart since we knew what type of team we were up against,” stated Junior Sam Keesey.

“I thought the team played very well together.” said Freshman Gabi Hall. “It’s really awesome to think we are one step closer to being regional champions.”
