Softball Splits Doubleheader with North Harford

On Fri., May 2, 2014, the Girls’ Softball Team split with North Harford High School in a double header.

The first game was pitched by Rayn Gibson.  After a scoreless first two innings, Kelsea Hilditch hit a 2 RBI triple, and then scored on a base hit by Rayn Gibson giving the Bobcats gain an early 3-0 lead in the third inning. North Harford scored one run in the fourth inning and then five runs in the fifth inning, putting the Hawks ahead 6-3.

Teammates Bethanie Cook, Taylor Hensley and Sarah Fleischmann scored runs in the following innings to tie the game 7-7 by the bottom of the seventh. This put the game into international tie breaker where a runner would be placed on second base for both teams.  In the top of the eighth inning, the 2nd base runner was bunted to third and Taylor Scott hit a single to score the go-ahead run.  The Hawks were unable to score their runner from second base, giving the Bobcats an 8-7 victory.

The second game was pitched by both Emily Strawbridge and Rayn Gibson.  The Hawks were able to get a 6 run jump on the Bobcats in the second inning. Both teams scored 2 runs in the third putting the score at 8-2.  Rayn Gibson pitched outstanding and was able to hold the Hawks to 8 runs as the Bobcats fought back and gained 5 runs by the bottom of the sixth. Taylor Scott and Sarah Fleischmann went 3-4 and both Bethanie Cook and Rayn Gibson went 2-4 in the game, but it was not enough to top the Hawks’ 8 runs, and the Bobcats fell short 7-8.
