Girls’ Lacrosse Honors Seniors and Quiets Huskies

On Thu., April 24, 2014, the Girls’ Lacrosse Team honored their Seniors before the game against cross town rival, Patterson Mill.

Cassidy Jones, Lucy Loughlin, Brianna Kelly, Danni Wilson, Brittany Decker, Natalie Decker, Jamie Bittner, Tori Gryglewski, Jenna Hemling and Jillian Becker were all honored for their accomplishments on and off the field over the past four years. It would be a special night for not only the Seniors and their families, but the rest of their teammates as the ‘Cats, led by their Seniors, beat the Huskies 10-7.

The Bobcats would get on the board first when Senior Cassidy Jones scored the first goal of the game. Then, fellow Senior Tori Gryglewski would net another goal to take the score to 2-0. Patterson Mill would then score their first of the game to cut the Bobcat lead to 1. Junior Sam Keesey would then get respond for the Bobcats by tallying another point, making the score 3-1. The Huskies would then come down the field to score and bring the score to 3-2. After the Husky goal, the Bobcats would go on a 2-0 run, with scores coming from Sophomore Emily McQuay and Junior Morgan Hollenback to extend the Bobcat lead 5-2. The Huskies would then go on their own two goal run, bringing the score closer at 5-4 to take the game into the half. Senior Goalie Lucy Loughlin tallied three first half saves.

Starting the second half, the Huskies scored and tied the game at five. Seniors Cassidy Jones and Tori Gryglewski would each score again to take the Bobcats up by two about seven minutes into the second half. Emily McQuay would tally her second goal of the night to make the score 8-5. Then, Junior Katy Higinbothom scored to take the score to 9-5. The Huskies would go on a two goal run which ended their scoring of the night and made the score 9-7. Sophomore Emily McQuay scored the final goal of the night, securing a 10-7 victory for the Bobcats over the Patterson Mill Huskies on Senior Night.

“The intensity on the field was awesome. We all came out strong and ready to take on Patterson Mill and the fact we won really made the night better, considering it was senior night and beating a county rival. I could not have asked for anything better. We played amazing as a team,” said Senior goalie Lucky Loughlin.

“It was such an intense, upbeat game. There’s always the cross town rivalry with Patterson Mill which added to the intensity,” said Senior Cassidy Jones. “The stadium looked awesome decorated for our senior night which motivated us and drove the Seniors especially play well. It was a tough battle on both ends of the field, but the better team came out on top which was us making the night so much greater for me and the rest of the Seniors on Senior Night.”

The Bobcats will play next on April 29 against Harford Technical High School. Come out and show your Bobcat Pride!
