Swimming Finishes Strong at Regional Meet

The Bel Air Boys’ and Girls’ Swim Teams competed in the 4A-3A East Regional Swimming Championships on Mon., Feb. 17, 2014, at the Arundel Olympic Swim Center in Annapolis. The Bobcats posted many respectable times in several events, resulting in a strong showing for Bel Air High School.

In both the Boys’ and Girls’ 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, Bel Air placed 5th. For the Boys, Jake Carter, James Cousler, Ben Barsam, and Mike Koscinski clocked in with a time of 1:36.50. For the Girls, Lauren St. Pierre, Madelynn Dougherty, Ellie Harris and Macey Nitchie finished with a time of 1:47.76.

Bel Air Boys’ and Girls’ teams also took 5th place in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, the Boys with a time of 3:43.80, and Girls with a time of 4:08.29.

In the Girls’ 50 Yard Freestyle, All-County Senior Macey Nitchie came in 7th place with a time of 26.04, a very good time in this event.

In the Boys’ 50 Yard Freestyle, All-County Senior Mike Koscinski came in 2nd place, clocking in at 23.18. With this performance, Mike will advance to the State Championship in the 50 Yard Freestyle, which will be held at the University of Maryland’s Eppley Recreation Center on Sat., Feb. 22 at 10 A.M.
