Girl’s Soccer Hosts Successful Bobcat Cup

Last weekend on Saturday September 21st, the Bel Air Bobcats Girls soccer team hosted the Bobcat Cup here at Bel Air High School.

Starting off the tournament with an early 9 am game against Perry Hall High School,  the Lady Bobcats showed their intensity and shut out the Gators 2-0 in a solid win to move on to the next round. A very intense first half of mostly defense for the Bobcats gave way to a score. The Gator goalie deflected a shot and Brooke Tauber easily tapped it in right before half.

The Lady Bobcats communication was  key throughout the rest of the game, team chemistry of these players led to many incredible passes and  leadership by the offensive captain Jordan Layfield, and controlling the defense, captain Caroline Lozzi allowing only 5 shots on goal all knocked down by goalie Andrea Sipos. Kayla Klock added insurance for the Bobcats with a second goal in the second half.

Moving onto the championship the Bobcats took on Century High School in a thrilling game tied 0-0 with an outstanding game in front of the net by Andrea Sipos allowing no goals on 10 blocked shots that led straight to penalty kicks. The Bobcats unfortunately lost in PK’s 4-2 in a disappointing loss.
