National Honor Society Induction Information

On the evening of Oct. 28, at 7:00 p.m., there will be a National Honor Society Induction in the auditorium at Bel Air High School. Attendance is open to the friends and families of the inductees and, following the ceremony, new members and their guests are invited to attend a reception in the cafeteria to celebrate the recognized students’ accomplishments.

In order to have been considered viable for induction, students first had to prove themselves proficient and kind-hearted, both in and out of the classroom. By maintaining exceptional grades, demonstrating volunteer and service hours, preserving an excellent record of behavior, and participating in leadership roles in school and/or community activities, the students who have been selected for this position truly have proven that they are able to adhere to the four pillars of National Honor Society: character, scholarship, leadership, and service.

Just a few weeks ago, students were meticulously filling out their applications as they noted every volunteer hour and leadership position they had ever had along with a multitude of other qualifications that would make them stand out to the NHS admissions committee.

Sam Dutcher, junior at Bel Air High School and National Honor Society Inductee, recalls her experience filling out her application. “[It] made me nervous and excited at the same time. It has been my goal to be selected into NHS since freshman year and I just hope everything I have done in high school so far has paid off!”

With the measures taken, it is safe to say that, the faculty that helped oversee the selection process, along with the students, and the tremendous amount of hard work put in by both sides, everyone here deserves a little bit of acknowledgement and thanks.

“I am very thankful,” says Mrs. Blackburn, NHS advisor, “to have a supportive faculty and staff that helps make our NHS selection go as smoothly as it does.”

With so much to celebrate, it is only fair that Bel Air’s National Honor Society inductees have a night to be recognized for their outstanding achievements. Come support your friends – your Bobcat family – Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Bel Air High School and witness them make the transition from fellow student to future leader.
