From Tuesday, Dec. 2, until Friday, Dec. 19, the BAHS Tri-M Music Honor Society and Music Department will be collecting donations for Toys for Tots in front of the BAHS auditorium.

Toys for Tots is an organization that collects toy donations for the less fortunate children that may not normally get a lot of toys on Christmas morning. Their goal is to provide hope to these children by presenting them with a new toy.

BAHS Senior Carolyn Todd is the president of the Tri-M Music Honors Society. She plays a major role in the toy collection and helps with all of the winter concerts.

Todd stated, “Last year, we were able to fill up twelve boxes of toys, but this year, our goal is to fill fifteen boxes.”

They are looking for donations of new, unopened, and unwrapped toys for children of all ages. Toys of any kind that are safe and appropriate. Popular donation items for the preteen/teen age group include, but are not limited to: sports equipment, books, backpacks, cosmetics, purses, board games, remote control cars/trucks, hand-held electronics, skateboards/helmets, curling irons/straighteners, and hair dryers.

There is also the option of donating money instead of purchasing toys. Donations will be collected every morning before homeroom and at all of the winter concerts.

Toy boxes will be in the lobby in front of the auditorium in the morning from 7:00 to 7:27 every morning. These boxes will also be at all of the winter concerts, including the middle school and elementary school’s concerts.

“I think the students of BAHS enjoy this fundraiser because Toys for Tots is in Harford County, so they know that the toys they are donating are going to the less fortunate in their county. They may even know some of the families, so it gives a very rewarding feeling that you have helped people in your community,” said Todd.

Be sure that all of your donations are in by Dec. 19 to help those in need!
