Bel Air Drama Co. Prepares to Show a Holiday Classic

Bel Air High School’s Drama Company will be opening this year’s winter play, It’s a Wonderful Life, on November 29, 2012 at 7:00 PM in the Bel Air High School Theater.

It’s a Wonderful Life is the tale of George Bailey, played by Bel Air High School Senior Dan Bowley, a man who is down on his luck and tries to commit suicide, until Clarence Odbody, played by J.C. Park, comes and shows him how horrible a world it would be if he was never born.

The set for the play is a re-creation of the Bedford Falls town, where the play is set.  Half the stage includes the Hedgehouse, the mother Bailey House, and the Bailey Parlor. The other half of the street contains the church, movie theater, the loan office, Potters office and the bridge.

“Each set is different,” notes the play’s director Mr. Benjamin Smith, a Social Studies teacher at Bel Air Air High School. “This set is just as complicated as the one from Titanic, just in a different way. There is more stuff on the stage, but it’s very realistic, like your walking down the street.”

Mr. Smioth will also be acting in the play as Mr. Welch, the schoolteacher’s husband who punches George Bailey.

“I’m very excited he’s [Mr. Smith] playing a character,” says Dan Bowley. “He’s definitely a very good actor, and I feel like I learned a lot just from watching him act in the show.”

Performances for It’s a Wonderful Life will be this Thursday, November 29th at 7 pm, Friday, November 30th  at 7 pm, and Saturday, December 1st at 2 pm and 7 pm in the Bel Air High School Auditorium.  You can buy your tickets now at http://seatyourself.biz for $10 or you can purchase tickets at the door for $12.
