Viral:

  • David Bowie: In some of this week’s most shocking and heartbreaking news, the prolific musician and actor David Bowie (aka Ziggy Stardust, aka the Thin White Duke) passed away from liver cancer on Sunday night. He was 69 years old, and his death occurred only two days after his birthday and the release of his newest album, Blackstar. Overwhelming support and memorials ultimately led to Bowie’s music topping the charts and even smashing a record previously held by Adele for the most YouTube music video views in one day, proving that his influence will live on.
  • Alan Rickman: Also at the age of 69, the actor best known for portraying Professor Severus Snape in Harry Potter died of cancer, just four days after Bowie. He will star posthumously in Alice through the Looking Glass, set to be released this May. In the meantime, countless friends and fans of his work have showed their support by creating memorials for him, both in person and through the internet.
  • Academy Awards: The nominations for the 2016 Academy Awards “Oscars” were announced this Thursday, with some of the biggest names being Bryan Cranston, Matt Damon, Jennifer Lawrence, and, of course, Leonardo DiCaprio. Let’s wish him luck this time!
