The winter sports seasons have all ended and that means that spring sports are coming back into action. After losing six strong seniors including Sydney Matthews, Natalie Neff and Bekah Riley, the Girls’ Lacrosse Team is looking to have another successful season and make a big run for the State Championship. Last season, the team finished with a record of 8-5, and ranked second in the Chesapeake League.
Some of the key returning players expected to make an impact this year are seniors Molly Loughlin, Anna Farley, and Taylor Patrick, and juniors Julia Henry, Megan Dee and Lauren Asher.
Some of the key newcomers that are ready to make their mark include junior Elizabeth Hillman, and freshmen Maggi Hall and Anna McQuay.
The team has four senior captains this year: goalkeeper Molly Loughlin, defender Taylor Patrick, and attackers Anna Farley and Lexi Strobel.
When asked her thoughts on the upcoming season, captain Taylor Patrick states, “I think we have a very strong team and we have a lot of potential to do great things this season.”
Coach Barry is entering her third season as the Bobcat’s head coach. When asked her thoughts on the team and how they will perform this season, she states, “The Bobcats are excited to get this season started and looking to compete for an UCBAC and State title. With a nice mix of veterans and newcomers, the Cats are looking to be aggressive on the defensive and offensive ends. The girls are pushing themselves and building on a team motto of unity, family, and toughness.”
The team will begin their season at Bobcat Stadium on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, against Towson High School at 6:45 p.m., so be sure you come out and support the Lady Cats on their road to states! Go Bobcats!
