Bel Air Cheer Lands First Victory

Deajah Dodd

On Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, our Bobcat cheerleaders, both JV and varsity, led us to a near perfect win at the first competition of the year.

Looking out from the stands, it was clear to anyone watching that our JV team did an amazing job with their jaw dropping stunts. Our varsity girls continued to improve and impress to help maintain their spot at the top of the charts.

This competition consisted of teams from Broadneack, Edgewood, Joppatown, Aberdeen, Glen Burnie C. Milton Wright, and many more. Both JV and varsity got top scores over C. Milton.

“Our senior flyers, Sydney Gillis and Katlyn Hydle, along with Kenny and Alex Cashmen, did amazing this competition! And I can’t wait to see what they will bring to our next meet.” Says Cheer Coach Mrs. Benfield.

For next week’s competition, our Bobcat cheerleaders plan on doing even more stunts and bringing back another win. A 9.8 is what they were ranked during this week’s competition for their stunts, flips, and kicks.

Mrs. Benfield says, “This week we have some exciting new stunts for the ‘Luau for Lupus’ themed competition.”

Come support our Bobcat cheerleaders here at BAHS next week. The competition will be held in the gymnasium at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2016. Go Bobcats!!!
