With the arrival of the winter season, cheerleading has begun. The Varsity team consists of 23 cheerleaders; some returning athletes and some new.

“Our key returning cheerleaders are all of our seniors from the fall season. Some new comers are Jacquelyn Cruz and Taylor Brethauer,” said Coach Joffee.

The team practices every day after school to work on completing their routine, and prepare themselves for the upcoming season. With Varsity trying to defend their title of State Champions they are working extra hard to make the routine more difficult to increase their score and have a chance of winning again.

Captions for the winter season are Andrea Mullin, Taylor Cooper, and Alexa Pross. Mullin and Cooper were captains in the fall season too. They did such a good job last season, the coaches wanted them to keep their role. Alexa Pross is new to the captain spot. She was chosen by her teammates to take the 3rd captain role.

Pross said,”I am excited to fill the captain role with Andrea and Taylor and help lead and help my team through the season.”

Varsity is competing in three competitions this season. First is the C. Milton Wright Invitational at CMW on Jan. 17, the second competition is the Patterson mill Invitational at Patterson Mill on Jan. 23. Then UCBAC Championships on Jan. 29 at HCC APGFCU Arena.
