On Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, the Bel Air Bobcats took on the Havre de Grace Warriors and came out on top with a final score of 42-21 in the Bobcats’ favor.

The Bobcats got off to a slow start in the first half due to turnovers and a lack of motivation. The score going into the half was Havre de Grace 21, Bel Air 14.

Early in the second half the Bobcats jumped out to a lead when Sophomore Keegan McHugh busted a long run for a touchdown. The Bobcats converted on a two point try and gained the lead.

“I am very proud of our team. We went through a tragedy and came out with the big win. This is another step in the right direction,” said McHugh.

The defense in the second half forced many turnovers to put the ball back in the offense’s hands. Senior Matt Kunkel had two interceptions on the night at crucial times which gave the ball back to the Bobcats.

“We started out really slow in the first half but we realized that if we work as a team and be relentless on defense, they would not stand a chance in the second half,” said Kunkel.
