Pick a Winner Charlie Brown

Tis’ the holiday season, so what’s the most important part? If it’s not the presents, decorations or the snow, it has to be the tree. It doesn’t matter if your tree is a small Charlie Brown tree or as large as the annual Rockefeller tree in Times Square, they’re all important.

The Rockefeller tree has been a tradition since 1933. It is believed that during the Renaissance period, people decorated trees with apples and wafers to commemorate the Eucharist.  The use of trees dates back even further to the ancient Egyptian times to commemorate eternal life. Since then, we have gotten more creative with our trees and they have evolved into a holiday tradition. We decorate them with lights and instead of apples and we use our personalized ornaments to make it our own. Christmas trees are an important part of the holiday. Without them, where would all the presents go?

There are over 23 different kinds of Evergreens, and each one has its own unique look.  The most common 3 types of trees that are used for Christmas around Maryland are the Austrian Pine, about 5 to 10 feet tall, the Norway Spruce, about 7 to 25 feet tall, then the most common type of tree is Colorado Blue Spruce, about 7 to 14 feet tall.  Each tree has its own unique branches and pine needles.

As the holiday season starts heating up, figuratively of course, you probably need to start finding and purchasing your own tree. Here’s a list of the top 10 places that you can go to the find that perfect tree. After all, a Christmas tree is like the turkey on Thanksgiving. Everyone will be looking at it.
