On Wednesday, October 25, 2017, the Bel Air Cheerleading team competed in and took third place at the UCBAC Championships at Harford Tech High School.

This competition is county wide and all Varsity cheerleading teams in the county compete in it. The competition started at 6:00 P.M. and the first team went on at 6:05 P.M.

There were 14 teams competing in the entire competition. The teams competing were C. Milton Wright, Harford Tech, Bel Air, North Harford, Edgewood, Fallston, Aberdeen, Joppatown, Havre De Grace, Bohemia Manor, Patterson Mill, Rising Sun, Perryville, Elkton and North East High School.

“I am very happy with what we put on the mat. It definitely wasn’t our best, but we went out there and showed everyone that we tried hard and competed as a team. I can’t wait for regionals with these girls, so we can show everyone our best!” said Maddie Humes, a member of the Bel Air Varsity Cheerleading team.

During Bel Air’s routine, they had no stunt falls, but a few stunt bobbles and multiple tumbling touch downs. The Bel Air Varsity cheerleaders placed third out of fourteen. Harford Tech placed second and C. Milton Wright got 1st.

“I could tell the girls wanted the win so bad. They were fighting for their stunts and pushing to their full extent. The girls tried their best and we wouldn’t want them to do anything else. At regionals they will show everyone what they are made of!” said Gabby Pasko, a Bel Air Junior Varsity cheerleader who saw the performance from the audience.

The next competition for Varsity is Regionals which will be held at Harford Community College on a Saturday this upcoming November. The girls are practicing hard and will be showing everyone their routine at regionals.
