Bel Air Boys’ Soccer Takes On the North Harford Hawks

On Monday Sept. 26, the Bel Air Bobcats traveled to North Harford to battle the North Harford Hawks in a Chesapeake division clash.
After losing to Good Counsel last Saturday, Bel Air was looking to get back on track during this game against conference foe North Harford, who has been struggling to get positive results this season. Coming into the game, Bel air was ranked #16 with a 5-1-3 record. They are still looking to cement their place among the state’s elite teams.
The game started off perfectly for the Bobcats as they took an early lead, with the help of scorer Ryan Albright, within the first five minutes. Junior Connor Lorenz dribbled through the defense to add a second goal for Bel Air. The tempo was fast and the Bobcat wingers were attacking their defenders every time they saw the ball, leading to multiple goal-scoring opportunities. Bel Air started the second half off with the same amount of vigor and enthusiasm as they did the first, scoring early. Senior Brandon Keller scored later on the ensure a 4-0 victory.
“It was our second conference game this season and it was important we got off to a good start this year in conference.” Says Coach Rose. “We pretty much controlled this game from the start […], overall, it was a very good team victory and gives us momentum going into our next match versus Fallston!”
Senior Gray Harper controlled the midfield with his long time club teammate Vince Rose. These two are a massive key to the Bobcat’s success, their chemistry taking the team to the next level. Later on in the season, Bel Air will need these two players to make a deep run in the playoffs.
“Ryan took the energy out of them after his early goal. After Lorenz scored the second, I felt confident that we would win, but we still needed to keep our head and finish out the game strong and in our way.” Harper says.
The next home game will be on Bel Air High School’s 200th Anniversary Celebration on Oct. 8. Come out and watch all the fall sports teams in action as they all will face off against local rivals.
