Bel Air Girls’ Soccer Defeats North Harford

On Tuesday, Sept. 27, the Bel Air Bobcats Girls’ Soccer Team beat the visiting North Harford Hawks, 2-0, at Bobcat Stadium.
The Bobcats got off to a fast start, hammering the Hawks with multiple shots in the first twenty minutes. The Hawks responded with a few counterattacks, however the Bobcat’s defense was able to withstand the pressure and send the ball in the opposite direction. The score remained knotted, 0-0, at halftime.
The team came out strong again for the second half, gaining possession right away. Within the first two minutes of the half, sophomore midfielder Haley Seabolt hammered a shot from thirty yards out, past the Hawks goalkeeper, and put the Bobcats up 1-0.
“I felt relieved to open up the scoring, and motivated to keep pushing to get more goals and finish the game strong.” Seabolt says.
The Hawks regained possession after the goal, however the Cats were able to steal the ball within a few seconds and were immediately back on the attack. Sophomore midfielder Katie McGrain received a pass from forward Autumn Dougherty, and was able to finish the shot, far post, to put the Bobcats up 2-0 within the first five minutes of the half.
“I think scoring that second goal was a huge confidence builder for our team, and it really shifted the momentum more towards us.” McGrain said. “It kind of calmed us down because we were two goals up, and it helped us play more confidently for the last 35 or so minutes.”
The Lady Cats have two home games coming up on Thursday, Sept. 29, against Harford Tech at 6:45 p.m., and Wednesday, Oct. 5, against Leonardtown at 6:30 p.m. Go Bobcats!
