Bel Air Wrestling Team Finishes Third in State Regional Meet

On Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26-27, 2016, the Bel Air Wrestling team competed in the State Regional Meet at North East High School. Overall, the team finished 3rd, and 9 out of their 11 wrestlers qualified for states.

The Bobcats finished 3rd place with 109.5 points, behind Old Mill in 2nd and Glenelg in 1st. The wrestlers that placed are as follows:

106 lbs – Freshman Brent Lorin in 1st place

120 lbs – Sophomore Zach Alascio in 6th place

126 lbs – Freshman Jacob Reed in 3rd place

138 lbs – Freshman Grant Cole in 6th place

152 lbs – Junior Scott Miser in 3rd place

160 lbs – Senior Captain Trevor Proctor in 6th place

170 lbs – Junior Sam Queen in 4th place

182 lbs – Junior Tommy Gomez in 2nd place

220 lbs – Senior Captain Dakota Crawford in 3rd place

Crawford, Gomez, Lorin, Miser, Queen and Reed will advance to the State Duals because they placed 4th place or higher.

Crawford said, “We showed them how Bel Air wrestles, having multiple people qualify for states and going that extra mile of working hard and placing third out of all the teams.”

The State Duals will be on Friday and Saturday, Mar. 4-5, 2016 at the University of Maryland, College Park. Come out and support your Bobcats!
