On Monday, Feb. 22, The Bel Air Boys Basketball team visited the Manchester Valley Mavericks for the last game of the regular season and walked away with their first regular season win of the new year,    58-47.

For the first time this year, the Bobcats seemed to click. They began executing on both sides of the ball, playing lockdown man-to-man defense, and made key shots in the paint and outside the 3 point arc. Communication was key for the Bobcats, as they seemed to anticipate each other, contributing to their success. With the win, Bel Air snapped a 12-game losing streak this season.

This game saw multiple players put up solid performances, with multiple players scoring double digit points, including some role players off of the bench.

Junior guard Michael Yetter is confident in his team heading into the postseason. “We played hard and have been playing well as a team the past 4 games. We have the momentum going into the playoffs.”

At the end of the regular season, Bel Air finished last with a 0-12 league record in the Chesapeake division, and a 4-13 overall record. In basketball, every team makes the playoffs so the Bobcats aren’t done yet and will continue to fight for a championship. However, the odds are stacked against them and they will have to face an uphill battle to get anywhere in the playoffs.

Bel Air has put themselves in a tough position heading into the playoffs with winning 0 games in the Chesapeake division. They will likely have to face the toughest teams early on like Joppatowne and Edgewood. Both of those opponents gave the Bobcats trouble this season with tough losses, but it looks as if Bel Air will have a chance to get their revenge.
