Cross Country Bobcats Triumph at Invitational and First Meet

On Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, the BAHS Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country teams ran in the 2 mile Mustang Invitational Meet at C. Milton Wright High School against C. Milton Wright, John Carroll, Fallston (boys only) and North Carroll. The boys’ team came in first and the girls’ team came in third.

In the boys’ race, BAHS Sophomore Kieran McDermott took an early lead and was able to maintain it the entire race, finishing with a time of 10:10, 22 seconds before the second place runner. McDermott was followed by BAHS Senior Austin Weiss in fourth place with a time of 10:52. Following Weiss was junior, Ethan Gray, in tenth place with a time of 11:14.

In the girls’ race, BAHS Junior Morgan Smith led the bobcats with a time of 13:35 finishing in sixth place. She was shortly followed by sophomore Paige Blaker in eleventh place with a time of 14:21. Following Blaker was senior Joy Hayward in thirteenth with a time of 14:23.

Everyone ran very well, despite the scorching temperatures.

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, the BAXC ran in their first county meet of the season at home against Edgewood High School. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams came in first.

In the boys’ race, McDermott finished in first place with a personal record of 16:44, 25 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Shortly behind him were Weiss and Gray in fourth and fifth place both with personal records of 17:57 and 18:12.

In the girls’ race, Smith finished in second place with a personal record of 23:09. She was followed by Hayward and Blaker in third and fourth place with times of 23:42 and 24:33.

Once again, the teams persevered through temperatures into the 90s.
