Girls’ Soccer Win Region, Move on to Final Four

On Tuesday, Nov. 5 the Bel Air Girls Varsity Soccer team took on the Westminster Owls for the Maryland 3A North Regional Championship.

This battle in Westminster consisted of a physical and intense first half of solid defense for both teams as no goals were given up thanks to an impressive defense led by Captain Caroline Lozzi, and yet another shutout with 3 saves on the day was Goalie Andrea Sipos.

After gathering themselves, the Lady Bobcats were able to pressure the Owls defense as Natalie Decker knocked in the first and only goal of the game, with less than 5 minutes remaining in the contest, helping Bel Air take the Regional Championship in a 1-0 game and move onto the State Semi-Finals.

After the game Kayla Klock, who had assisted Natalie Decker’s goal stated, “The game was intense and we never stopped playing hard. We were excited when we finally put in that goal in the last final minutes as all our hard work had paid off.”

The team will next play in the State Semi-Finals against Huntingtown  High School on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. on the campus of Essex Community College.  Admission will be $6.00.
