The Perks of Staying Indoors during a Snowfall

Having to stay indoors is sometimes an unavoidable part of life, but can be just as enjoyable as going outside. When taking shelter, people are able to just relax while also admiring the works of others or letting their own creativity flow. Here are some ways to enjoy the indoors when going outside is not an option.

When trapped inside, experimenting with new ideas can use up excess free time while also testing out new projects. Through experimenting with new ideas people can choose to change something in their routine, create a new device of their own, or modify an already existing product or idea without fear of being judged.

Playing a video games is a form of digital media that can inspire people to create their own project, or express their creativity digitally with others. Through their use, video games allow people to explore unrealistic worlds and pieces of history without leaving their homes. Video games give people the opportunity to become the hero or the villain of a story in humorous, thrilling, or frightening environments.

Through reading a book, a person can obtain new vocabulary and knowledge or explore the world through a new point of view. Through science fiction and fantasy books, readers can learn about new aspects of the world through the use of a new strange new environments. Fiction books of all genres allow people to think deeply about the author’s story and their themes. Nonfiction books allow readers to learn directly about new topics or better understand topics they had prior knowledge too.

Writing a story or poem allows people to practice their grammar and writing skills while expressing their creativity. Not only does writing in one’s free time allow a person to express themselves freely, but also can help in the person’s academic areas by improving writing style and grammar.

Practicing an instrument is another great way to spend your time indoors. Through instruments, people are able to share music with family and friends. Instruments help people to improve a person’s memory and hand-eye coordination skills along with practice in reading music.

There are many reasons to enjoy your time indoors, and hopefully Bobcats can utilize these strategies in some future snow days! Fingers crossed.
