On Tuesday, March 21, the Lady Cats Varsity Lacrosse Team beat visiting Towson High School by a score of 15-3. This was a very strong win and a strong statement for the team to begin the season on a very high note.

The Lady Cats came out very strong, scoring three goals in the first five minutes! Junior attacker Julia Henry put the team on the board first, followed by goals from freshman attacker Maggi Hall and junior midfielder Elizabeth Hillman. Towson was able to tie the score, but the Lady Cats continued to challenge the Towson goalkeeper with a number of great shots and goals. Henry scored another two goals for the team, followed by a goal from attacker Kami Holt with 11:28 to go in the first half. Senior captain attacker Anna Farley closed out the half with two goals, including her 100th career goal!

“I was very excited to score my 100th goal, but even more excited to see our team as a whole do so well for our first game together,” Farley says.

The girls came out of halftime on fire, scoring two goals from Henry and junior midfielder Caroline Fallace within the first minute of the game. The scoring seemed to break for a few minutes as the play between the two teams was back and forth, however, thirteen minutes after Fallace scored her goal, sophomore midfielder Grace Wehland put a goal in, followed almost immediately by a goal from junior midfielder Lauren Asher. Farley scored again after that, followed by the final goal from Wehland. Incredibly strong play from senior goalkeeper and captain Molly Loughlin kept the Cats in the game and constantly made many unbelievable saves. She finished the game with eight saves.

“I’m so proud of how our team played,” Loughlin states. “Considering this was the first game of the season and we lost to Towson in the years prior, it’s amazing to see how we connected out there on the field, fought hard, and didn’t let up! Hooty hoo!”
