Bel Air Takes on Perryville

On Wednesday, Dec. 21, the Bel Air Men’s Basketball Team recorded their first conference victory in two years as they took down the Perryville Panthers at home 55-40.

The Bobcats came into Wednesday night’s matchup with the Panthers as favorites, not something they’re used to. In the beginning of the game, the Cats were hot, hitting three threes to start the game. Senior Jon Scott led the way offensively, dropping 24 points and recording three assists. Senior Finn Gottschalk pulled down 16 rebounds and had three blocks to hold the Panthers to just 40 points all together.

This was a key victory for the Bobcats as they look to win promotion back into the Chesapeake division. Fallston and Havre de Grace will be the Bobcats’ biggest competitors at the top of the league this season. All three teams deserve to be promoted, but only one will earn the privilege.

“It was a good win, but we need to build off it so we can get some more.” Scott says. “Winning the Susquehanna is going to be tough, but I think our guys can get BA back to the top soon.”

Scott was the driving force for the Bobcats against Perryville, stuffing the stat sheet with 24 points, three assists, and four rebounds. The Cats will need to rely on their point guard to guide them back to the upper division.

“We played well and I’m glad we won, but the job isn’t done yet.” States Junior Devin Anderson. “I’m excited to see my boys work their tails off to win the league. I think we can do it.”

The Bobcats head into the holiday break with a 1-5 record. The losses against five upper division schools were disappointing, and they could have been victories, but the Bobcats are ready to give it their all when they return in the new year. Come out and support the Cats as they look to win out the remainder of the season!
