Bel Air Football Takes C. Milton

Daniel Webber

On Friday, Oct. 7, the Bel Air Bobcats defeated the C. Milton Wright Mustangs 22-0 to cap off a great day of festivities to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Bel Air High School.
The final score ended with a lopsided victory for the Bobcats, but the game was far from a blowout. After the first half, the score was still tied at 0-0 with neither team even threatening to score.
The first points came on a 20-yard strike from senior quarterback Michael Yetter and senior wide out Jon Scott. This gave the Bobcats the advantage they needed to get their offense rolling in the right direction.
“We made some key adjustments during halftime that really allowed us to spread their defense out.” Said Scott. “Michael threw a great ball and it’s something we practice every single day.”
The Bobcat’s defense played lights out the entire game, holding the Mustangs to under 100 yards passing and 100 yards rushing. This was also their second shutout of the year. Senior defensive tacklers Kolby Preston and Alex Muneses pressured the quarterback all night, and came up with key plays late in the game to keep the Mustangs off the scoreboard.
“We knew pressure from the d-line would throw off what their offense had planned for the night so it was great to get in the backfield and make plays when it really mattered.” Said Preston.
Bel Air travels this week to Aberdeen High School to face off against another tough county opponent for some more Friday night football. The Bobcats look to remain undefeated and move to 7-0 this season with a win over the Eagles. Come out and support this Friday at Aberdeen High School and help the boys keep their record!
