Girls’ Lax Advances in Playoffs

On Wednesday, May 6, 2015, the Bobcat’s Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse team won the first game of their playoff run against Perry Hall with a score of 18-9.

Senior Shannon Williams and Sophomore Anna Farley led the team with four goals each. Junior Bekah Riley put up three and Senior Sam Keesey had two. Senior Morgan Hollenback, Junior Emily McQuay, Sophomore Kami Holt, Sophomore Karsyn Shek and Freshman Jenna Signorelli all had one goal.

Junior goalie Sydney Matthews made seven saves and Sophomore Goalie Molly Loughlin came up with four.

Senior Katy Higinbothom said, “Our team played really well together and I am confident that if we keep playing like this, we will advance far in the playoffs.”

On Friday, May 8, 2015, the Lady Cats beat Dulaney High School in the second round of playoffs with a score of 11-9.

It was close the entire game, but the ‘Cats pulled out with the win led by Keesey with three goals. Williams and Farley both had two goals. McQuay, Holt, Sophomore Lexi Strobel and Freshman Lauren Asher had one goal each.

Loughlin carried the team by coming up with 16 saves and throwing stellar clears.

Loughlin said, “Everyone came to the game pumped up and ready to play and I think that contributed to how well we played. We were almost always the first to ground balls and out-hustled the other team. It was an intense game and I am excited we won because Dulaney is a good team.”

On Monday, May 11, 2015, the ‘Cats beat Franklin High School in the third round of playoffs with a score of 16-2.

Sophomore Anna Farley led the team with three goals. Keesey, Freshman Julia Henry and Signorelli put up two. Hollenback, Williams, McQuay, Riley, Sophomore Taylor Patrick, Strobel and Freshman Sam Stachowiak all scored one.
