On Friday, April 24, the Bel Air Boys’ Lacrosse team hosted Patterson Mill Huskies. In a competitive game, the Bobcats came out on top, winning 11-5.

The game started out in the Huskies favor, scoring a quick goal against the Bobcat defense. Quickly after, the Bobcats tied the game after Senior Captain Brad Casale stung the top corner past the Patterson Mill goalie. The Bobcats played a very physical game, but the Huskies capitalized on their chances and stayed in the game, only losing by one at halftime 4-3.

The Bobcats turned their game around completely in the second half. It all started after the ‘Cats called an isolation play, and Senior Attackman Carter Hoffman dodged his man from X and scored, revitalizing Bel Air’s offense. The rest of the game was dominated by the Bobcats. Senior Anthony Sampayo continued winning the face-off’s, and Garret Utz continued his hot streak, scoring his 12th goal in just three games. In the end, the Bobcats’ game was too strong for the opposing Huskies, winning 11-5.

“We came out slow in the first half,” said four-year starting goalie Gavin Hanley, who had 9 saves. “Coach got our heads where they needed to be, and the seniors on the team really stepped up to lead the way.”

The boys’ have a packed schedule in the upcoming week, travelling to Northeast on Wednesday, playing Franklin at home on Thursday, and then challenging Havre de Grace high on Friday night in Bobcat Stadium.
