On Monday, April 20, the Generals of Towson High School traveled to Bel Air to take on the Bobcat Boys’ Lacrosse team, only to fall 18-8.

The game was originally supposed to be at Towson High School, but following a heavy rain throughout the day, the game was moved to Bel Air based off of Towson’s poor field conditions.

Following a huge 24-5 win over Westtown, PA this past weekend, the boys’ were looking for another good win to add for their resume. Towson came ready to play, going up 2-0 early in the first quarter. Bel Air still couldn’t find an answer for the General’s attack, falling behind 5-1 after 12 minutes of play.

Only minutes into the second quarter, the Bobcats turned it on, starting at the midfield circle with Senior Anthony Sampayo winning over 80% of the face offs. The face offs allowed Bel Air to take control of the game, going on a quick 5-0 run to gain the lead for the first time, 6-5, with 8 minutes remaining in the half. The Bobcat’s would not stop there, going on 5-1 run again to end the half in their favor, 11-6.

The Bobcats cruised for the rest of the game, with the defense and Senior Goalie Gavin Hanley only allowing 2 more goals for the rest of the game and the offense scoring 7 more to finish the game with a resounding 18-8 win. Bel Air has now scored 42 goals in 2 games while only letting up 13.

Senior Garrett Utz commented after the game, “We started off a little shaky coming out of a quick warm up but once we started moving the ball around we put up big numbers. A lot of the goals were assisted so it’s great to see that the ball movement is opening up good looks.”

Utz lead the scoring for the Bobcats with 4 goals, while fellow Seniors Tom Pffiefer and Brad Casale followed up with 3 goals apiece. Casale now has 7 goals in 2 games. Hanley finished with 9 saves.
