On Friday, March 27, Bel Air Middle School invited players from Bel Air High School’s Varsity Girls’ and Boys’ Volleyball teams to participate in the annual Volleyball Day from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Throughout the day, the middle school gym students practiced passing, setting, and hitting. The small basic steps in learning the game were incorporated in fun drills.  In addition to participating in drills, the middle school students got to watch the high school students scrimmage and even had a chance to play against them if they wanted to.

To represent the Varsity Boys’ Volleyball team was Jack Anglada, Josh Bavis, Gavin Hanley, Evan Kern and Luke Beyers. To represent the Varsity Girls’ Volleyball team was Kirsten Johnson, Savannah Deise, Taylor White, Kaitlyn Cassaday, Nicole Lippert, and Anna Wojciechowski.

“I’ve been looking forward to participating in this for a long time, and now that I am a senior it was so fun to go back to my old middle school and be a part of this day,” said Senior Opposite Hitter Kirsten Johnson. “Being with all my friends and teaching the middle school students how to play volleyball was something I loved being a part of.”

Volleyball Day is a day that is used to spark interest in the game and teach the younger students some skills they can practice if they wish to try out in high school.
