On Wednesday, Jan. 28, the Bel Air Boys’ basketball team was defeated by C. Milton Wright High School in a tight UCBAC divisional rivalry game.

The Mustangs got off to a quick start jumping out to a 16 point lead at halftime due to their ability to knock down open three pointers.

With good defense and a lot of hustle, the Bobcats rallied in the third quarter with a 19-5 run that gave them a chance to go ahead late in the third quarter. The momentum seemed to shift at the end of the third quarter when Senior Anthony Miranda, hit a deep three just before the buzzer.

“After hitting the shot it felt like the entire team came back to life. All of us came together, determined to put everything we had into the fourth quarter,” said Miranda.

The Mustangs proved too much to handle in the end with the final score being 75-66, but the Bobcats were pleased with their effort and are determined to work harder in practice in order to give themselves an even greater chance at defeating the Mustangs in their next competition.

“It’s always disappointing losing to such a big rival but this loss will only make us work harder in practice in order to better ourselves for the next time we face off,” said Junior Jahari Carmichael.

The Bobcats play Friday night in another UCBAC divisional match against the Joppatowne Mariners who the Bobcats previously lost to in an overtime thriller. The game will be held at home and will be starting at 6:45 p.m. Go ‘Cats!
