On Tuesday Jan. 21, 2015 the wrestling team traveled to Perry Hall High School to take on the Perry Hall Gators and the North Carroll Panthers.

The Bobcats took on the Panthers in their first match if the tri- meet and went to defeat North Carroll 54-22. Senior Captain David Reagan started the match with a pin in the first quarter of the match. The ‘Cats then lost the next five against the Panthers. The Bobcats then went to win the last eight matches of the match. Seven of the eight Bobcat wins came from pins and once win came from a forfeit. Sophomores Scott Miser, Tom Gomez and Sam Queen, Juniors Dakota Crawford, Cody Seibel and Trevor Proctor and Senior Captain Cam Watts all pinned their opponents in the first two periods of their matches. The Bobcats defeated the Panthers 54-22.

“I think the team wrestled well last night as a whole.” stated Sophomore Scott Miser. “We wrestled really well against North Carroll. We really showed some heart coming back and getting seven pins. Against Perry Hall, we didn’t wrestle our best. Our upper weights really fought hard to get us back into the match but we didn’t do what we needed to win and Perry Hall did.”

After defeating the Panthers, the ‘Cats took on the Gators of Perry Hall. The Bobcats got off to a rough start by losing the first five matches and trailing the Gators with a score of 24-0. The Bobcats would work their way back to tie up the score at 24 by winning five consecutive matches. Senior Captain Cameron Watts got it all started for the Bobcats when he pinned his first period. Sophomores Scott Miser and Sam Queen and Junior Trevor Proctor also joined Watts when they pinned their opponents. Sophomore Tom Gomez and Junior Dakota Crawford both added three points to the team score and Senior Captain David Reagan added four points from a major decision. The scores were tied but when it came down the certain criteria, the Gators would beat the Bobcats by one point.

“It was a tough match and we fought hard,” said Sophomore Tom Gomez. “but we need to practice harder to get better and win more matches.”

The Bobcats improve their record to 17-5 on the season and will travel to St. Michael’s to compete in the Battle of the Bay this weekend, Jan. 23, 2015 and Jan. 24, 2015.
