On Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, the Field Hockey team hosted the North Harford Hawks in the Regional Semi-final game.

The Bobcats started the game with possession. After a couple minutes of back and forth action, Sophomore Anna Farley weaved through the Hawk defense and nailed a drive right into the back of the cage for the first and only Bobcat goal of the game. The Hawks fought back and come down the field and get a couple shots on goal, but the standout effort of the Bobcat defense denied the Hawks any chance to tally a goal. The time quickly ticked down and the score remained the same going into the half.

“It was a great game and to see the girls work together to pull out the win was awesome,” stated Captain Judy Yurkofsky.

Going into the second half, both teams had certain game plans and were ready to fight hard. The Hawks started with possession but the Bobcats caused a turnover and got it into the Hawks’ defensive zone, but unfortunately could not tally another goal. The second half was full of back and forth action between the two teams. As time quickly ticked down, the Bobcats did not allow the Hawks to tally a single goal during the game leading to a Bobcat victory with a score of 1-0.

“We played really well as a team, and all the improvements we have been working on really came together,” said Senior Captain Morgan Domanico. “We plan to continue to keep improving throughout the rest of our run.”

The Bobcat defense came up with many turnovers to not allow any Hawk goals. Captain Goalkeeper Morgan Domanico contributed in the backfield, tallying seven saves in the cage while Senior Captain Katy Higinbothom tallied a defensive save.

The Bobcats continue their season with a record of 10-4 and move to the Regional Championship game on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 6 p.m. in Bobcat Stadium against the visiting Towson Generals.
